Canadian Rockies

Wow! Just looking through our photographs as I prepare this page, I am reminded what a stunning area this is to visit! I think we will look a planning  a return trip sometime…

We flew to Vancouver in 2005, spent a few days including a trip out to Victoria on Vancouver Island, then rented a nice little convertible on a one-way to drop off to Calgary, where we flew back home from. Our trip was about 15 days, so we had plenty time for hiking. We visited Jasper, Yoho and Banff national parks and as well as hiking, we saw lots of wildlife including bears (the best bear viewing was just off the roadside and at one point we saw a mother and two cubs).

From what we recall, the driving was easy, the people were friendly and nothing was particularly expensive. We’re not much into cities, but enjoyed Vancouver and Victoria. I can’t recall if we stayed over in Calgary or just dropped off the car and flew home. In the national parks, we spent around 3 wonderful nights in each.

The “photo journey” below should give you a good idea of what to expect should you decide to visit (which we’d highly recommend)…
